NIC ALDER, STUDENT VOLUNTEE

Nic left his home province of Ontario in 2002 to explore the mountains of British Columbia. He settled right in, quickly taking up backcountry ski touring and hiking in the South Coast Range. Nic left his position as an assistant site superintendent at Aragon Construction in 2009 to enrol at Capilano University in the Outdoor Recreation Diploma. The program provided many opportunities to further explore the wild places of British Columbia while developing leadership and team building skills.

After completing the diploma Nic enrolled in the Bachelor of Tourism Management program. Nic spends his summers working for Metro Vancouver Parks, which provides him an opportunity to utilise his construction, leadership, and people skills in providing a great park experience to visitors and residents of the Lower Mainland.

In 2012, Nic had an opportunity to travel and work in Western China for eight weeks – an intense opportunity to put the skills and theory gained from his education to the test. Nic is extremely excited to be a member of the team that travelled to the Sapa region in the Spring of 2013.

Nic graduated from the Bachelor of Tourism Management degree at Capilano University in the Spring of 2013.
