HENRY CHOW, FACULTY VOLUNTEER

Henry has been involved in the tourism industry for more than 18 years, with main focus on the aviation industry. Being a Training Instructor at the Air Canada Inflight Service Training Department, he has a deep understanding of the aviation regulatory environment and the service standard for a world-class airline. His position as an In Charge Flight Attendant offers him various trainings such as Leadership Training, Team Building Training, Conflict Resolution Training, Service Recovery Training, and Cross Cultural Training. As a Flight Attendant, he enjoys the dynamic and diverse work environment with numerous opportunities to visit various countries and experience different cultures. Further, he was chosen as one of the spokespersons for the 2003 Air Canada rebranding campaign and appeared in various national and international advertisements.

As a Pre-Game and Game Time Volunteer for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics for 3 years, he was involved in the event planning with the particular attention on volunteer recruitment before the Game. During the Winter Olympics, his role as the Interpreter for the Chinese Women Hockey Team in the International Client Services team presented him with many opportunities to interact with different global media groups and foreign dignitaries such as the Vice President of the United States Mr. Joe Biden. With a strong interest in language studies, Henry can speak Cantonese, French, Japanese, and Mandarin. After receiving his MA in Tourism Management, he started his teaching career with the emphasis on tourism management programs such as tourism ethics, sustainable tourism, corporate social responsibilities, marketing, career management, and student-industry relationship.
