CAT LAPOINTE, STUDENT VOLUNTEER

Cat Lapointe is a third year student in the Tourism Management Degree program. Having completed the Diploma program in 2011, she has been applying her extensive customer service experience and love of travel to her position as a travel designer for a local tour operator.

Cat has travelled extensively throughout North America and can always find an adventure wherever she goes – from glacier skiing in Oregon, skydiving in Vancouver or swimming with whale sharks off the coast of Mexico. Her experience in the travel trade will be a valuable addition to the project team, as will her organizational and leadership skills. Cat was a runner up for the Pat Corbett Leadership in Tourism Award in 2012, recognizing the future leaders of the tourism industry in BC.

Cat has thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of classes she’s taken so far, including Entrepreneurship, Strategic Marketing and Product Development. She is excited to build on her background with upcoming classes such as Research Methods and Organizational Leadership. She is most excited about the opportunity to learn the intricacies and fine balance of planning community based tourism projects, and to work with such a passionate group of students, leaders and the people of the Sa Pa region.
